I'm really thinkin' Crank 3 with this tune. It doesn't have a really clearly defined opening though, not that it matters as a soundtrack item. I think that it's just cool to have a good intro, for the feel of completeness that it brings. Same goes for ending, fade out is nice, and the audio sample was interesting, but overall I feel that it hurt what could have been a monumental piece of work.
The sample of a guy screaming was a bit of a poor choice, or maybe it just dragged too much, but it seemed slightly comical. I don't have much to offer in the form of suggesting an alternative, but hey.
Overall, it's got a really good feel, puts me in a very unique mindset, and when I'm it, it's really good.
Nice work, man.
Also, I just realized that this is a really old submission. Oh well. It doesn't seem dated in the slightest, and it's sad that it was so overlooked.

I have the utmost respect for the funkiness of this tune.
The only thing I feel could have been improved would be the speed at which you end it. I think that the ending lags too much, and I would have cut it off at 3:27, perhaps also turning the pitch of the very last note up a bit and increasing it's length with slight reverb. The reason I say this is that the song has quite a bit of energy, but the ending is so long that it drains it all out. Cutting it down would prevent that energy loss, and still provide an adequate sense of closure. These are just my opinions, I really don't know much about music, but try it out if you've got time.
:D

Not a bad idea, and it could end up working out better than what I have. Unfortunately I can't edit the song on Newgrounds anymore cause it's been used in a submission, but I'll try it out for myself.

NO ENDING!?
This piece is superb, and you leave it hanging like that? Where's the closure, man? Tie up those loose ends! :D
The soul packed into this song is incredible. It really brings me back . . .
:'I

I'm not sure I can put any other ending than the fading of emotions.
Thanks for the feedback though.

I'm the most stoic person I know, and even I found this to be emotionally charging. It is at once relaxing, uplifting, and horribly lonely. The composition is so beautiful it's almost eerie. It's like I could quietly drift off to death.
But then something happens.
Everything suddenly drains out of the song. All feeling just dies at 2:29, and what remains is so devoid of any emotion that it's almost sad, but not quite. It's empty. It's as though, as I were preparing to leave this world, and was headed to this "better place" that I awoke instead to find nothing but a cold darkness swallowing my soul. It's quite disturbing.
So all in all, I'd have to say that you've composed quite a masterpiece, even better than Blue Gel. It makes quite the statement regarding death and our expectations of it, and offers a rather depressing view of the outcome, in my opinion.
Either that, or you just made a weak-as-shit ending.
Or maybe I've misinterpreted it. That's possible, too, but damn. This is a fucking powerful song.

Many thanks :) I believe I've explained the ending in a response to another review... but there are a lot of those to sift through, so I'll explain it again. The end is not really supposed to be a downer, but it's more there to distance the listener a bit from the situation. This is ant death, after all. We can romanticize any kind of death of an animal or person, but that doesn't mean we fully understand it.

Hearing a DnB rendition of the chicken dance was oddly enjoyable, and it's a wonder that it didn't destroy the unity of this track. The whole song is very energetic, and zany. I think the clapping took too much of my attention away from the other, more interesting sounds, but that's got a lot to do with individual taste and you can't please everyone.
I see you have this set to loop. That's cool, but since this will be spending a lot of time in lot's of people's iPods it will be sounding like a rather abrupt ending. I think that songs longer than 1.5 minutes are better off with definitive endings, but again, a matter of personal taste.
All in all, I'm really impressed with the song.
Author's Response:
Well this isn't DnB lol it's techno, sort of. And thanks.

With a playcount of over 100, I figured it was time to come drop a review.
Your instrument choices are genius, and the resulting creation is like nothing I've ever heard. I've never heard so much speed combined with so much enthusiasm. It's like . . . an enthusigasm! This style that you have pumps out more energy than a small star. It's really amazing.
Energy aside, there's also great variety in this track. I'm not just referring to your intro either, not that it doesn't set the stage quite beautifully, but all through the song, the tempo, mood, and feeling of the song change constantly, all the while without becoming disjointed. The simultaneous diversity and unity are a wonder to behold.
I'm so glad that you got out of your goth thing. But I wonder where you will go from here . . . and how much longer you will remain a pirate . . .

A very different Juleye indeed.
The sound seems better suited to a video game than your other works. An aquatic video game, perhaps. It carries the usual mood though, even though you replaced feedback with . . . a warped steel drum? as the prevalent instrument.
I have to say I like where you're taking things.

Your use of the majestic kazoo was quite charming. I rarely see it used well, but it worked just fine here. It's nice to see an artist make their own music for their flashes. Great job all-around.
I was the first person to vote on this, btw.
Author's Response:
Thanks!
Yeah it's supposed to be zany.
I was originally writing this to be an ass kicking punk rock number, and still will eventually. :P

. . . there be a full length version?!?!?
Author's Response:
Well, this IS the full version, actually. It was just a loop and didn't last long, so yeah. Perhaps I could make a more elaborate version later... thanks for listening!

That is the weirdest fucking thing I have ever heard, EVER.

Awesome, better than being the most normal thing you've ever heard. Thanks for listening!
